I would move to Chicago in a New York minute! I'd move to New York in a New York minute too, but Chicago seems more attainable! My husband and I go every year to visit the Windy City. We love it there. This year we've decided to plan a vacation after Thanksgiving so we can see the holiday lights. We can't wait!
We always stay at The James Hotel. It is a wonderful, super modern hotel that is located close to everything and is right across the street from Trader Joe's...which means we bring wine, crackers, and cheese into our room and listen to the cars go by while dimming the lights and listening to music on our iPod.
Here are some pictures of the hotel...
The lobby...
The entrance, and bar to the left...
The elevator with the huge wall mural (which I love)...
The room with a view of the city...
The super modern, very clean bathrooms...
The James is a great place to stay if you visit. I especially love it because my house is not at all modern as you can see here, so it's fun to stay someplace so different.
Since we stay at The James, we are able to walk everyplace! How beautiful is this?
We walked all the way to the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower) and went to the observation floor to see the great views the last time we went.
What an amazing city! Beautiful Lake Michigan in the distance...
There really isn't a bad view...
You have to go in the skybox if you are there too. Once you get past the weird feeling of stepping out onto it, it's nothing. People were laying on the floor of it because they were too scared to stand up. I was, of course, laughing at that...
I took a picture when I was standing in the skybox of the people in the one next to us.
Be sure to go to The Bean too!
Maybe take in a Bluegrass concert in the park!
And then get on the plane and fly home after a wonderful vacation!
If you want to know some great places to eat and shop in Chicago, let me know! I'd be happy to share all of my secrets of the city with you!
When we get back from our holiday vacation to Chicago, I will share winter pics with you.
Safe travels,
Stacy
Love your Chicago post! The James is such a great location for a hotel! Close to everything. I work a few blocks from there. Hope you have a good time in November :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kristen! We absolutely love Chicago. Every year on the way home I tell my husband that we need to move there. I would get rid of our cars, move into a little place downtown and be perfectly content! I'm so jealous of you. Enjoy your experience there every single day. Such a beautiful city! The James is fabulous! We have great service there, it's such a clean, modern hotel...we love it! Can't wait for our November trip. -Stacy
